Strategery
Isn’t it funny how Clinton’s campaign message has devolved to “look at me, I’m not black“?
On a less controversial note, there is also the blatant lying about what Obama said: ‘“You know, some people now continue to teach their children and their grandchildren. It’s part of culture. It’s part of a way of life. People enjoy hunting and shooting because it’s an important part of who they are. Not because they are bitter.”’
But Obama didn’t say that people like guns because of their bitterness about failed politics of the last 20-30 years. What he said is that because Democrats haven’t been able to offer an optimistic, useful message and set of policies in the last 20 or so years, people have begun to organize their politics around these cultural questions, such as their love for guns or their religious identity. Would anyone deny that cultural concerns have become more important in the last 30 years, and that economic conditions have something to do with it? Anyone?
This entire flap just makes me angry
