The Kristol Primary
William Kristol has finally made his endorsement, declaring Clinton to be the “responsible” Democratic candidate.
William Kristol, editor of the conservative Weekly Standard, sounded more effusive. “Obama,” he said, “is becoming the antiwar candidate, and Hillary Clinton is becoming the responsible Democrat who could become commander in chief in a post-9/11 world.”
The time will come for otherwise progressive and liberal Clinton supporters to have to answer for the act that’s she is by far the most hawkish and the closest to Bush-Cheney on foreign policy of all the Democratic candidates. I’m not saying that there still isn’t a liberal case for Hillary, but those making that case need to acknowledge how her foreign policy vision is distinct from Obama’s and either minimize it’s importance in light of Hillary’s other virtues or just straight up defend it.
