I'd say I've had some sort of thoughts along these lines about Iran since since I was about 15, so for two years. Now, I kinda have an unfair advantage; my uncle was born in Iran and had to flee after the Revolution, and a family friend of ours was a communist who was in the Shah's jail with the Islamic revolutionaries, who too had to flee following their rise to power, so I've had first had experience with the liberal, Iranian educated class. Thanks for thekind words though, and Brian, I'll try to work on my spelling, no promises though.
